Rhiza Health is a Delaware For Public Benefit Corporation that is focused on building both 1) Healthcare web3 protocols and 2) a community to own and govern those protocols so they function as utilities for the industry

While the claims process may be electronic, it is NOT deterministic, meaning the claim is not validated
and processed as soon as it is submitted. When the Payer’s claim processing logic is made available in the
Rhiza Health protocol, then validation errors are immediately known and error details are accessible
so errors can quickly be corrected. Even though there are hundreds of potential payers, they can all be
equally accessible via the protocol.
Status of the claim is also immediately accessible using the Rhiza Health protocol. This means it does not
require a phone call or EDI request because updates are written and made available via the Rhiza Health Protocol.
Payment is also made immediately
using Rhiza Health protocol. More details on this process are available in the whitepaper.
There are thousands of FHIR API endpoints and numerous other data sources across healthcare that are needed by the community of healthcare companies. Rhiza's web3 protocol allows community members to crowd source the data in the registry and access a single point to collect data anywhere within the registry without duplicating the effort to implement direct calls across all possible endpoints.
The community will determine how contributed funds are used. Proposals and decisions will be made visible on a shared platform, visible to all members
Absolutely, it is critical to enable anonymous participation to facilitate the community education and growth required for meaningful change.
This is a Rhiza Health protocol capability that makes the claims processing logic and data accessible via smart contracts to the entire community. This enables Good Faith Estimates, Price Transparency Regulatory compliance, Pre-Adjudication and real-time settlement.
Currently Rhiza health is not utilizing a publicly available cryptocurrency or token. An approach is being finalized, however the focus is on creating value for the community. This community will make an informed decision on how to align that value and ownership following web3 best practices.
Experiences on the team include writing the 2016 whitepaper on this web3 claims, before it was called web3 as well as co-founding and serving in various leadership roles with the Synaptic Health Alliance. Rhiza has a good foundation of experience but is always looking for others that want to lean into this effort as it will take a community to change healthcare for the better. If you are interested in joining that community send a note to info@rhiza.health.
Rhiza Health is currently focused on automating the claims process so it is similar to a retail experience. This updated process includes real-time settlement, finalizing the transaction at the point of service as one can expect to occur when they use a credit or debit card.
Think of a protocol as a capability that is decentralized and made available via a Blockchain network. For example, in Web 2 Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) enables email between parties. Healthcare needs something similar for administrative transactions. This would make the payer’s claim processing logic accessible to the provider so processing could occur in real-time. The administrative overhead of managing the back and forth between payer and provider on claims data is drastically (6X) reduced when these processes are adopted.
Following the model of successful DeFi products, Rhiza Health core contributors will have majority voting power. As the community and protocol mature, the voting power will transition to the community. This is referred to as progressive decentralization
A community owned protocol will share the cost of ownership across the entire
community instead of one single company paying for these duplicative systems. This cost sharing enables
significant reduction in total cost of ownership.
As seen in Decentralized Finance (DeFi), protocols are more efficient than centralized processes for B2B
ecosystems like healthcare. The Rhiza Health protocol enables providers to connect directly with the
payer claims processing logic and data which is drastically more efficient. This means the provider will
make less phone calls to ask questions about claims because the data and logic is accessible to them.
Information that is private is NOT stored on the public blockchain. Instead URLs that serve as pointers to where that information can be found are stored along with a one way hash of the data to validate the data has not changed.
Rhiza Health is focused on claims processing and working with a group of early adopters to pilot these capabilities. Latest updates on the progress of those activites will be shared on social media channels (Twitter & LinkedIn).
